Christmas Concert - the Performance

What an exciting, scary, beautiful night.

Thank you so much to our family and friends who came to support us! We really appreciate your love and kindness. A special thank you to our parents, Craig and Cynthia Gale, without whom none of this would have happened. We feel blessed to be your children.

This afternoon we had a blizzard here in Utah. Some of our guest performers weren't able to make it to the concert and we greatly missed them. Hopefully they'll be able to perform with us at a future event.

Here's the only picture we were able to find from the actual concert. Our friend Michael Burton (who filmed our music video for "One World") recorded the concert for us. Hoping to get a copy soon to post on YouTube. :)

Recording "One Voice"

We recorded "One Voice" today at a small studio in Provo. It's one of our Dad's favorite songs. Hopefully it turns out well.

Recording "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

Today we recorded "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to send to America's Got Talent. One of our goals is to sing so well that we make our Mom cry with joy.

We made Mom cry, so we're happy with how it turned out. :)

AGT Adventure - Traveling Home

We drove through the night and it took us 10.5 hours to get home. We arrived in Provo, Utah at 7:30am. Dropped Christina off and the rest of the group went up to Orem, Utah. Tanya and Tiffany then dropped the van off at the rental place and we all enjoyed some much-needed sleep in our own, cozy beds. :)

Dinner before our long drive home...

Christina and Tiffany; they look a bit silly sleepy, don't they?

Tanya and Natalie; still smiling!

Tamara; don't worry, be happy!

Preparing to Record "One World" - Costume-Making

We listened to many different Celtic songs and went with Celtic Woman’s “One World” because it’s a very powerful song about people working together to create a better world for everyone.

We wanted ethereal costumes to reflect the mood of our song and found a pattern for Celtic/Medieval dresses that was simple, modest, and beautiful. The most difficult part of that process was finding different colors that we all liked and that looked nice altogether!

We bought the material and spent the weekend cutting out our patterns and watching movies together. Mom and Christina sewed our dresses this weekend because Mom has knee surgery scheduled for Tuesday.

Costume Ideas (we chose a pattern similar to the top left dress):

Creating GaleSong

Earlier this month, Mom was reading the news and came across an NBC page that talked about the “America’s Got Talent” auditions. She thought about us and wondered if we might be interested in trying out for something like this. We all agreed that it would be a wonderful opportunity for us to improve our singing and have fun spending time together as sisters.

We had our first official meeting today to decide: our goals, our dreams, which roles each of us would play in our group, the name of our group, which song we should record first, and what to do about costuming.

Originally, we wanted our group name to be “NightinGales” because it’s a play on our last name (Gale) and the songbird that sings at night (we love to stay up late!) We quickly discovered, however, that there was already a group with the name we liked so we decided on “GaleSong”; still a play on our last name, and the fact that we like music.

The Beginnings of GaleSong

About GaleSong:

We are five sisters who have recently formalized our singing group, although we have been singing together for many years. We range in age from 30 to 14 years old and our voices range from high soprano to low alto. Our favorite songs are those that allow us to do tight harmonies; we especially enjoy Celtic, Christian Contemporary, Classical, Jazz, and Country Music.

Our Dream:

We love using music to express how we feel. Our goal as GaleSong is to be role models and examples to other young women and ladies. We recognize that each of us has experienced trials and difficulties in life. Even though we have all felt sad, alone, and lost at times, music has a very powerful way of lifting us up and inspiring us to better ourselves and enjoy life.

Before GaleSong:

We have always enjoyed singing together and have wanted to record a CD for several years. Our wonderful parents, Craig and Cynthia Gale, decided to buy us time in a recording studio for our Christmas present in 2007.

Our goal was to sing some of our favorite songs and have them professionally recorded for our family and friends to enjoy. In two sessions in the fall of 2007 (30 Aug 2007, 20 Nov 2007), we recorded 14 songs and put them onto two CDs that we titled, “Blessings” and “Over The Rainbow”. We were very pleased with the recordings and shared the CDs with relatives and close friends.

Everyone who heard the CDs commented that we have beautiful voices and that we should market ourselves to a bigger audience! We decided to plan on doing some more recordings at a future date and find out how to sell our CDs.

 Ending Thoughts:

We hope you'll enjoy reading our Blog! We'll try to keep it updated with our performances, trips, recordings, and lots of pictures.
